| Description: | This painting by Emma Minnie Boyd captures the mellow light of the afternoon permeating the drawing room so that there is a feeling of being amongst nature. The Australian green and gold is framed by the window, yet the scene is very much reminiscent of England. Differing in subject matter from her male contemporaries, like many other female artists she captured domestic scenes which allow us an insight into society at that time. Boyd participated in numerous group exhibitions in Australia and London, painting in both oils and watercolours. |
