This trail begins at Shepparton in Victoria's Goulburn Valley before continuing through the midlands to Benalla and then on to Wangaratta, once home to one of Australia's most notorious bushrangers, Ned Kelly.

Shepparton Art Gallery

take the tourShepparton is home to the well-known Shepparton Preserving Company (SPC), one of the world's largest fruit canneries. The Shepparton Art Gallery holds a nationally significant collection of historic and contemporary ceramics. The collection includes works dating from early convict potters through to contemporary studio pieces.

 

Benalla Art Gallery

take the tourTravel east to arrive in the town of Benalla. The Benalla Art Gallery enjoys a picturesque location on Lake Benalla and holds an interesting collection of contemporary and traditional Australian paintings, including several depicting the exploits of the Ned Kelly Gang who frequented the surrounding area.

 

The Exhibitions Gallery (Wangaratta)

take the tourWangaratta is the last town on this trail and like Benalla it sits on an important waterway at the junction of the Ovens and King rivers. The district around Wangaratta was once a popular area for bushrangers such as Ned Kelly and his Gang and 'Mad Dog' Morgan. The Exhibitions Gallery at Wangaratta does not have a permanent collection but hosts diverse travelling exhibitions throughout the year.
