Guidelines for referees

Thank you for agreeing to referee

Please email your response to the editors by _________. Your email should include, in its body-text, the recommendation that you are making and a short written report on the paper outlining the reasons for your decision. If you have made in-text comments on the electronic copy of the proposed paper that you have refereed you should attach this file; do not change the file name. Files should sent as rich-text format.

Your report should address the following criteria:

  • Quality of written expression and readability, relative to its content.
  • Quality of its structure and internal coherence as a narrative or argument.
  • Quality of its contribution to scholarly knowledge in the field of xxxxx.
  • Quality of its engagement with the work on similar topics of other scholars and practitioners

Where the proposed paper includes multimedia elements, please also address the following criterion:

  • Relevance and quality of multimedia elements to written text and vice versa.

Please select one of the following choices and submit with you email message:

  1. Accept for publication without change or with minor stylistic/grammatical corrections or:

  2. Accept for publication with minor revisions to content as indicated subject to editors’ further approval or:

  3. Accept for publication with major revisions to content as indicated subject to my further approval or;

  4. Do not accept for publication recommend submission to another journal or:

  5. Do not accept for publication recommend substantial revision and re-submission or;

  6. Do not accept for publication do not recommend revision or submission to another journal.

Please provide a report indicating reasons for your decision and providing, where appropriate, clear indication of the changes / revisions that you are suggesting. In particular, any report that recommends major or substantial revision should provide clear guidance to the author as to the nature of and the reasons for these suggestions.
