make your own exhibition

teacher zoneHave you ever been to a museum or gallery and seen an exhibition? Exhibitions are put together by people called curators. Curators choose objects to go in an exhibition based on a theme or topic. They might work together with an exhibition designer to arrange the objects in the exhibition. Then they write labels for each object so that people who come to see it can understand what the objects are and how they relate to the theme of the exhibition.

Make your own exhibition about

megafauna

Megafauna were huge animals that roamed Australia for millions of years. Fossilised bones of these animals have been found all over Australia and by studying the bones we can imagine what they might have looked like, what they ate, how they lived and possibly even how they died.

Start the
megafauna
game now!

How to play:

In this game you are the curator of a megafauna exhibition. You have 12 megafauna objects to choose from and you must choose five. These are all real fossils that come from the Museum of Central Australia in Alice Springs. You can make up your mind about which ones to choose by reading the fact sheets that come with each one.

Then you have to write a label to go with each of your objects and compile your exhibition for opening night!

Before you start, visit the Megadig website, which tells the story of the excavation of megafauna fossils located in Alcoota in the Simpson Desert.
