The EVRSIG understakes special projects on evaluation and visitor research as a need is identified. The most recent, Profiling your Visitors, was an initiative of the SIG to standardise the collection of demographic information.

Profiling Your Visitors (2003-2004)

Understanding the kind of people who visit has become a primary concern of institutions across Australia. Coupled with this, the value of being able to compare visitor profiles across institutions has also been recognised.

To address this issue, the EVRSIG has established a set of standardised questions that can be used by cultural institutions throughout Australia and which will enable comparisons across the sector (by obtaining standardised information).

It is the first to review the practice of audience research across the Australian cultural heritage sector to provide the opportunity for the sector to make best use of audience research. Information was gathered from 120 museums, galleries, libraries, archives and related institutions throughout Australia via indepth interviews and an online survey.
