On a hot dusty January
morning in 1866 Mary and her sister Annie set out for Penola where she began her
life's work as co-founder of the Sisters of St. Joseph. In 1872 Mary paid her mother
a visit, but her part in the community of Portland was finished, later to be commemorated
in the church window at All Saints in Portland.
