Dr Fiona Cameron
Dr Fiona Cameron is Research Fellow, Museum and Cultural Heritage at the Centre for Cultural Research, University of Western Sydney. She is the Chief Investigator for the international research project Exhibitions as Contested Sites - the Role of Museums in Contemporary Societies with partners the Australian Museum and the Australian War Memorial. Prior to this appointment, Fiona was a Research Fellow in the History Department, University of Sydney, lecturer in Museum Studies at the University of Sydney and James Cook University.
Over the last 18 years Fiona has worked as a social history curator and as a consultant on exhibitions in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, some involving the curation of ‘hot’ topics. Fiona is also chief investigator on a number of other ARC research grants, has been an invited speaker at a number of international conferences, published books and journal articles on a range of other subjects to do with the contemporary roles of museums, ‘edgy’ topics, digital technologies and collections.
