Drac and the Gremlin. In some picture books while the text describes one situation the illustrations are telling an entirely different story. Drac and the Gremlin is such a book - the text tells of an adventure with mythical creatures, the illustrations show us the imaginative play of a brother and sister in the garden with their mother watching from a window. The placement of the illustration and text on the page of a picture book is carefully planned. Illustrations are regularly reworked to convey their intended message - an example of this can be seen in the preliminary and finished versions of the illustration from Drac and the Gremlin. |
